Remember my dilemma in which I could not choose between a new mountain bike or a new frame? Well I made a choice and would like to introduce you to my new ride as waiting until march to buy it proved too much for me to handle, I never was much for patience!
One thing that I did was to decide on a shop to do my buying, but not my local bike store as I thought I needed more choice and sizing up by a specialist. So with that in mind I headed to the city of Nottingham and took my business to Evens bike store.
I saw a bike online from Cannondale, their new turine 4. So my intention was to buy it, that is until I saw it in the shop! Basically the size of the headset barrel and length of the top tube put me off. Due to the fact that I had nothing other than that in mind, I was at a loss.
The choice of bikes on offer in the shop was very limited so I decided to find a bike that I felt comfortable with, and would therefore be happy with. Staff in the Nottingham branch were very helpful and very patient with me, so thanks to them for that and helping me walk away with the best piece of kit ever.
The Scott scale 35 is a sweet ride and impressed me from the moment I took it out for a test ride, (which Even's let you do before buying!). At first the bike felt twitchy, but very agile. What got my pulse really racing was how effortlessly each pedal stroke transferred into foreword motion. Apart from the irritating sound of rubbing disk brakes and numb hands on rough rides, the Scott scale 35 is a joy to ride and I find myself wanting to ride it at every opportunity.

About me
This blog is all about my life… my life of mountain biking and ideas I’ve acquired through the years. As an average everyday mountain biker, the learning doesn’t stop. I try to feed my mind in my own little way by writing and promoting this blog. I would like to share what I have learned through this blog with you. Let this blog be an additional resource for your mountain bike needs, and maybe you'll find some much needed ideas you may not have given much thought to before.
My name is Paul Walton, an engineer slave and spare time mountain biker/blogger. Blogging about mountain bikes has become and undying passion, spending most weekends and afternoons on the internet blogging. As well as riding bikes, writing about it also is what I love to do.

Hi Scott, congratulations on your new bike. I am also in the process of assembling a new mountain bike. I chose to buy a custom frame for two reasons: proper sizing and to be able to choose every component ;)
The Scale it´s really a great frame. Have fun with it ;)

Yes mate, I have a couple of times. Although the weather has been shite and the snow has caused my front mech to stick!
The real problem is that I ride in my big ring most of the time and I find that I'm still in my big ring the next time I take it out.
Paul.
Congrats on the new mountain bike! I've recently just got into mountain biking and this blog has been a great resource. I just want to thank you for all the great info on here. I live next to some great trails in Southern California and its a shame that I don't get out more often and ride.
Your welcome and thank you for your kind words. I now feel that I have something of worth to offer the the world of mountain bikes, the beginner and cycling in general!
