SkipRatt often uses the energy drinks after a long trek to replace all that he has lost as I'm sure most of you do. However there is a more economical (and lets face it we all like that word at the moment) way to give yourselves a boost after a long ride.
After a bout of hard exercise try a bowl of cereal instead..recent research shows that a bowl of wholegrain cereal with milk can be just as effective for revitalising the body..it replenishes energy-releasing glyocen and blocks the lactate that can lead to stiff muscles.
It doesn't have to be any particular brand..as long as it's whole grain...and a bit of fruit or honey can be added to give extra flavour and a boost to your energy levels too.
So Mountain bikers..... there you have it...a quick cheap fix to aching muscles!!

About me
This blog is all about my life… my life of mountain biking and ideas I’ve acquired through the years. As an average everyday mountain biker, the learning doesn’t stop. I try to feed my mind in my own little way by writing and promoting this blog. I would like to share what I have learned through this blog with you. Let this blog be an additional resource for your mountain bike needs, and maybe you'll find some much needed ideas you may not have given much thought to before.
My name is Paul Walton, an engineer slave and spare time mountain biker/blogger. Blogging about mountain bikes has become and undying passion, spending most weekends and afternoons on the internet blogging. As well as riding bikes, writing about it also is what I love to do.

I am still pretty new to mountain biking, and have never even really considered eating right after a hard ride.
Heck I still don't even use energy drinks. I am curious do you use energy drinks while you are out riding as well?
Hi Daphenne, yes I sure do use energy drinks!!
You can find tonnes of products on the market, but the 1 I find to be the best for me is "GO" "REGO" and "PSP". All 3 are the same brand doing very different jobs an d used at different times.
Here is how it works: "PSP" is taken before riding as it loads you with carbs. "GO" is during riding as it keeps you energized, and "REGO" is taken after as it puts back everything your body loses whilst riding...
To be honest I only use GO and REGO as a good balanced meal an hour or so before going out is best, and much cheaper!
I would like to apologize for my lack of updates to posts and comments. I am suffering again, only this time it's a sinus infection so I cannot hear bugger all in 1 ear and I feel like crap. If my grammar and spelling is poor, I apologize for that too!!
Just thought I'ld let you know the drop list has been updated, thought you might not yet know.
Sandy
I enjoy using it so much, it's nice to see it when I go blog walking and or when I'm doing my drops.
Most of my time mountain biking I didn't use energy drinks, after rides it was dark beer. Here's a tip for the dark beer method, when it stops hurting stop drinking, trust me. Enjoying the blog.
Thankyou Sandy I will look into updating the drop list here as it has a few sites that needs removing anyway.
You cannot beat a few pints after a long ride for killing pain Kirk, but my poison is the amber necter!
This post is a good reminder. Some people want to be fit, but they sometimes overlook the importance of repleneshing the energy they lost. This is a good suggestion.
