I am planning to buy an XC bike but still undecided between 2009 and 2010 Scott Scale 40. 2009 has Fox32 F100 and SLX crank while 2010 has Reba SL and XT crank. I like the looks of Fox fork and XT cranks but definitely cannot get both of these Please help me out. I have a Reba SL from 07 mounted on my HT and it has been the best suspension fork I ever owned. Pretty easy to set up even though it has lots of adjustments, very stiff, low maintenance, very light for the price of it, very good quality,... and now I already know that this year Reba SL it´s still the best choice if we consider the price/quality/weight relation. BB,S are a nice cable option for any bike. Direct Curve 5's I have never come across so cannot comment! It had very few miles on it from years of roadie neglect, but nice to have options for rides over the winter, so I dropped some $$$ and went with the Reba Race and Avid BB5s in front, with Cane Creek Direct Curve 5's in back. I had it out on Saturday last on a fairly technical trail, riding with 7 other riders, and was amazed at the radical difference the Reba Race makes. I now not only have a great XC bike, it will also do a lot of all-mountain rides. If you like your hardtail, this is a huge upgrade in performance - for under $500 including both brakes.
